Book reports !!<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Do you remember when we were kids in school and they wanted us to do book reports? I know my book reports were rote recapping\u2019s of the events in the book. They were horrible. If I wrote book reports today they would discuss how the author used a future construct and alien race to expose and discuss the social short comings of the human condition.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
For instance, In Star Trek; The Original Series, they wanted to discuss racism and how it was antithetical to the American idea. Instead of discussing current events, the Enterprise went to a planet where half of the population was black on the right side and the other half of the population was white on the right side.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
An example of a quality report may have read: \u201cTo highlight and expose the stupidity of racial stereotyping, one group dominated over the other and convinced everyone on the planet that the subservient group was inferior intellectually. A for instance would be \u201cThose white on the rights are to stupid to drive or pilot. They could never be scientists. We are lucky they can feed themselves.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Furthermore, Captain Kirk kissed Lieutenant Uhura in one episode and it was the first interracial kiss on American Broadcast Television. Interestingly to me is that before he kissed her, he was put under the influence of the mind controlling pheromones of the Orion Slave Girls and kissed one of the green aliens first.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
